After Effects Experimentation

I was given the task to take an image from the internet and then load them into After Effects to animate a still image  over time to solve a problem in time. For this task, I had to load a photograph of the shard with a plane looming above into After Effects to make the plane move from one side of the image to the other whilst going behind the shard using different tools within After Effects in order to achieve this successfully. To begin, I had to load the image into Photoshop in order to place the image into different layers. The first layer was the shard. I did this by using the magic wand tool to select the shard and then duplicate this as another layer and then cut the shard out from the top layer. In order to get rid of this used the "fill" tool on "content aware" so that the area that the shard would have been in, is now filled with background. However, this did not go so well because the sun that was in the background had been duplicated when I fi...

Drink Can Pinhole Project

I was given the task to create my very own pinhole camera through the use of a large drinks can. This pinhole camera was going to be left for three months in order to capture the lines of the sun passing through the sky and rising as the months progressed from winter through to spring over time.  Below is a great example of a pinhole photograph recording the sun over time. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/02/21/article-1358962-0D475B10000005DC-872_634x434.jpg To create the Pinhole camera I firstly cut out three card disks from a larger piece of card. The smallest disk being 35mm in diameter, the next disk with a diameter of 60mm and the largest disk being 70mm in diameter. I used the 70mm disk as a template to draw and cut out two circles of felt. I used a tin opener to take the top off the can, I then rinsed and dried the can thoroughly. I made a hole which was 0.3mm in diameter. I then sand the hole inside the can...

Stop Motion

Stop Motion is a technique that is used to bring static subjects to life through animation. Stop Motion is achieved by moving the subject small amounts whilst taking one frame overtime a movement is made. When all the frames that have been shot are played, it shows movement. Stop Motion can be thought of as a sequence of photographs. the subject is moved and shot frame by frame to mimic movement. Stop Motion can be seen all the time. In adverts, music videos and even films and you may not realise it.  The earliest stop motions were captured with film cameras. The animator had no way of viewing their works until they got all of the film processed. If the animation came back and ended up not being fluid the lighting was poor or if the set and a small tweaking, then the whole of the animators work was lost and has to start the whole stop motion again.  In 2005, Tim Burtons Corpse Bride was captured by using a Canon EOS-1D Mark. This was the very first stop motion ...
